You’ve got your bagels home…now what?

Now, I’m not gonna judge, you do you, but I have some thoughts on how to store, and reheat for an amazing bagel experience.

Thank you so much for going out of your way to get my bagels. Nothing is as good as a bagel fresh out of the oven, and until I have my own spot, you’re getting bagels that are out of the oven ONLY an hour or two…so really fresh!

If I were you, I’d crack that baby open and eat it on the spot. Or slice and dress with your favorite toppings.

Reheating:

For an in-home experience much like fresh out of the oven follow these steps:

  • Preheat your toaster OVEN to 375˚

  • Splash water over your bagel

  • Bake for 7-10 minutes.

You should have a crackely exterior and a steaming soft interior.
**You can do this for days after bringing bagels home.

Storage:

Okay, I’m torn on this one. At my house, I store them in the paper bag they came in, on the counter. We eat them for days using the instructions above, however, I’m totally not opposed to wrapping the paper bag in a plastic bag. The bagels should remain softer for a little longer.

Often, I have learned that many customers pre-slice and then freeze them. Obviously this won’t reheat like I’ve described, but it is traditional for many folks.

I’d suggest freezing whole. Instead of splashing water on them prior to baking, just put in oven while preheating. Fans tell me this defrosts interior while coming up to temp, and then the exterior will crisp up as normal.

Enjoy!
